A collegial, citizen-led approach to transparency
vie-politique.fr documents the mandates, votes and disclosures of French elected officials — on one simple principle: no data published without a checkable source document.
Why this site exists
This data is already public, but scattered across the Assemblée nationale, the Sénat, the European Parliament, HATVP, the Ministry of the Interior and Légifrance — each in its own format and nomenclature. Cross-referencing these sources for a single person takes work few citizens can do alone. This site does that work once, and makes it verifiable.
Who is behind the project
A volunteer citizen initiative, with no party affiliation and no funding from a party, a union, or a company concerned by the published data. The funding model will be made public before launch, on the same footing as the methodology.
Our commitments
- Full traceability — every piece of data links back to an archived document, with its fingerprint and capture date.
- No automatic merging — any match between sources is validated by a human and remains reversible.
- Open correction — anyone can report an error, and the process is public.
- Hosted in France — all data is hosted in France, in line with GDPR.
- The limits are stated — see the methodology.
