What the site does not do

vie-politique.fr sets no cookies and loads no advertising or cross-site tracking script. Browsing the site itself therefore requires no consent to collect — there is nothing to consent to.

Audience measurement

The site measures its traffic with Umami, self-hosted on our own servers — never shared with a third party. It records pages viewed, referring sites, country, device type and browser, without any cookie, without a persistent identifier, and without any way to track the same person across different sites. Your IP address is used only to determine the country, then discarded. Legal basis: the consent exemption set out by the CNIL (the French data protection authority) for strictly internal audience-measurement tools that build no individual profile.

Contact and correction-report form

When you use the contact form, the following data is processed:

• Name (optional), email (optional, useful to receive a reply) and message — the data you enter yourself.
• If the message reports an error on a page: that page's reference (type and identifier), so you don't have to re-enter it.
• A non-reversible fingerprint of your IP address (salted hash), never the address itself: used only to limit abusive submissions (a daily cap per fingerprint), and cannot be traced back to a real IP address.

Purpose and legal basis: processing your request (replying, correcting a page). Legal basis: legitimate interest in ensuring the accuracy of published data and responding to inquiries, evidenced by the voluntary submission of the form.

Recipients: the site's editorial team. Each message also opens an internal tracking ticket on the project-management tool used by the site (GitHub, private repository, access restricted to the team) — a transfer outside the European Union governed by that provider's standard contractual clauses.

Retention period: 12 months after your request has been processed, unless a longer retention is required (ongoing dispute, legal obligation).

Data published about documented individuals

The core of the site — mandates, votes, disclosures of interests, parliamentary activity — concerns people holding an elected mandate, based on already public data (Assemblée nationale, HATVP, Journal officiel). This processing includes data falling under Article 9 GDPR (political opinions, in the broad sense of parliamentary activity).

Legal basis: Article 9(2)(e) GDPR (data manifestly made public by the data subject, in the exercise of their mandate) and the journalistic exemption of Article 85 GDPR, as transposed into French law (the purpose of informing the public about public life). Right to rectification: any person documented by the site — or anyone reporting an error concerning them — can request its correction via the contact form. Since published data comes from official sources, a correction does not erase the source: it corrects how the site renders it.

Right to object and to erasure: limited by the journalistic purpose of the processing (Article 85 GDPR) for data strictly necessary to document the exercise of a public mandate. A reasoned request is still examined on a case-by-case basis.

Hosting and security

The site and its data are hosted by Scaleway SAS, on servers located in France (Paris region). Exchanges are encrypted (HTTPS). The site manages no user accounts or passwords.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have a right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over data concerning you. To exercise them: dpo@vie-politique.fr (reply within one month). You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the competent supervisory authority in France.
